Sihanoukville is a coastal town and port in south-western Cambodia, opening out to the Gulf of Thailand. It is the only major port of Cambodia, and is a growing tourist destination because of the beautiful white sandy beaches and clear calm sea.
The main beaches near Sihanoukville are; Victory Beach, Independance Beach, Sokha Beach and Ocheuteal Beach.
Victory beach is most ideally orientated for watching the sun set, facing west with a view overlooking the islands and fishing boats.
Ocheuteal beach is the longest of the four, and is lined with beach bars and guesthouses right on the edge of the sand.
Sokha beach is mostly private for guests staying at the Sokha Beach Resort & Spa Hotel, and is an incredibly well kept beach, lined with pine trees and grass umbrellas.
The Buddhist temple of Wat Leu which sits atop Sihanoukville mountain offers a fantastic view of the surrounding land, the beaches and the islands out to sea.
