Tropical flowers and plants thrive in Cambodia's hot climate, the countryside is lush and green even in the dry season as Cambodian people have traditionally been adept at making irrigation systems.

A few varieties of flowering plants that are native to Cambodia include;

Bouganvillier The bouganvillier tree grows all over Cambodia, particularly in the streets of Phnom Penh. The leaves of the plant turn a variety of colours such as orange, pink and white, and some have different colours from the same plant.

Orchids There are many different types of orchids to be seen in Cambodia, an exotic flower that has a special fascination of people worldwide.

Heliconia The extraordinary looking heliconia plant comes in a few colours, mostly red, orange & yellow, it is seen often in Cambodia.

Lotus Flower This usually pink or white waterlily grows from muddy lakes to bloom high above, it is a Hindu symbol of creation and purity.
