Banteay Kdei Photo Index

Banteay Kdei lies opposite Srah Srang, and is similar to the other Jayavarman VII temples of Preah Khan and Ta Prohm, although it is the smallest of the 3. Built, like these, in the late 12th-13th century in Jayavarman's massive building plan during which he also built Angkor Thom and Bayon.

The layout of Banteay Kdei is confusing at best, like the other works of Jayavarman VII, the central area is tightly packed with buildings, surrounded by two rectangular enclosures. The temple is mostly unrestored and can be fully explored, a visit is usually combined with Srah Srang opposite the east entrance to Banteay Kdei.
