Food & Restaurants:
Khmer food is available everywhere, and is a bit like Thai and Vietnamese food but with its own flavours, usually including soups, noodles, rice and fish, these been staple foods of Cambodia for centuries.
French bread bagettes are in abundance in Cambodia, it is due to the years that the French controlled the country in the 19th and early 20th centuries, the Khmer people have got a taste for good bread, even the Khmer Rouge could not eradicate the French bagettes during the seventies despite their efforts.
There are many French & international restaurants in Phnom Penh along the river front on Sisowath Quay, and in Siem Reap on the so called 'Pub Street'.
A popular place to eat is the FCC Foreign Correspondants Club in Phnom Penh on Sisowath Quay, and a newer one in Siem Reap on the river. Serves a variety of dishes and pizzas.
The Cambodians have also adopted a love of pizza, there are hundreds of pizza restaurants all over Cambodia, with chains like Happy Herb's Pizza, marijuana is sometimes added as a pizza topping in Cambodia, with 'happy pizzas' being offered at some places.
Drinks & Alcohol:
Beer
The local brewed beer is Angkor Beer and is available at almost all bars & restaurants, about US$0.75+ a pint. More and more you see various imported beers from around the world, with varying prices.
Cocktails
The cocktail bar culture is thriving in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, mainly catering to tourists and expats, many establishments offer a large variety of cocktails & other drinks.
Wine
Lovers of wine will be pleased to hear that due to the French influence in Cambodia, wine is fairly good and easily available
